Roots is the second profile of Sandrini Metalli’s SANDcustom service.

Evoking memories, rocks and waves

Born from the inspiration of Viola, our collaborator, Roots is a tribute to the origins, a precious story that taps into the memories, collected during her childhood in San Pantaleo, a picturesque Sardinian town where she was born, and the experiences lived on Lake Iseo, where she grew up. Above all, however, Roots is a tribute to those roots that provide stability in the life of each individual, which anchor without constraint, acting as a safe haven in the meanders of memory.

The shapes of the profile narrate the caress of the wind, the harshness of the rocks, the crests of the waves, and symbolise the union between the human being and nature that, the inexorable passage of time transforms without affecting its essence.

Roots House

A dwelling overlooking an abyss of cobalt, a gem that emerges from the solemn embrace of nature. Water and rock are the key elements on which the Roots House project rests: it is a place where noise is attenuated, nature makes itself present and time is suspended in favour of contemplation. The copper in which it is dressed in evolves from its purest form to the oxidized one, symbolising the power of change and transformation. The rough lines are tempered by sudden flat elements, giving the cladding a dramatic and pronounced three-dimensional effect. Roots House vibrates with an inevitable energy, aimed at capturing the eye: light and matter intertwine in a mystical atmosphere that guides thought towards immaterial peaks.
